Original Summary
Hey everyone, I got tired of background removers that require uploading images to a server. And when you have a bunch of images to process, doing them one by one gets frustrating pretty quickly. I wanted something where I could select my images, remove their backgrounds, and download everything together. No uploading images to a third-party server just for background removal. So I built ByeBG (byebg.com). It's a browser-based background remover powered by AI, designed to process images directly on your device. Building this was an interesting challenge. The two things I wanted to get right were: Running the model locally: Getting AI background removal to work in the browser without sending images to a remote server. The goal was to make the processing private while keeping it practical to use. Bulk processing: Instead of repeating the same process for every image, you can select up to 50 images and download the results together as a ZIP file. It also supports transparent PNG exports, manual erase and restore brushes, and background replacement. Once the page and model are loaded, you can even use it offline. I'm still working on it, and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from people who work with images regularly. A few things I'd love to know: How does it handle tricky images, especially hair and fine edges? Would bulk processing be useful in your workflow? What am I missing that would make this more useful? If you try it, let me know what works and what doesn't. Link: https://byebg.com/ submitted by /u/dec002 [link] [comments]
