Original Summary
Glitchdeals is a UK Amazon price-drop finder I built on my own. Keepa supplies the price history, every drop gets a 0 to 100 score, and each deal is shown against the product's 90-day average price instead of the RRP. Search Console, last 28 days against the 28 before: - Clicks: 221 to 385 - Impressions: 2.82k to 2.16k - CTR: 7.8% to 17.8% - Average position: 13 to 12.4 Google's August spam update cut how often the site shows up. The people who do see it now click more than twice as often. What I changed: - Made the site smaller. Only deals with live UK stock are indexable, the blog returns 410, empty categories are gone, duplicate pages merged. Not-indexed pages fell from 1,409 to 1,038 in two weeks. - Fixed the sitemap. Every URL claimed it had changed an hour ago. - Put the price in every deal title, under 60 characters. - Expired deals now say they're expired. A failed database read used to print "empty catalogue" across the whole site. What I can't tell you is which change did it. I shipped them close together, and one spike in late September carries a lot of the month. The money side is worse. Eight months of Keepa's API (about £45 a month on its own), Supabase and Vercel comes to over £1,000, paid to keep it running for the 300+ people who use it. Amazon Associates turned down my application. I haven't made a penny, and I don't know what the right model is for a site like this. If you've taken a deals or price-tracking site from £0 to anything, what worked first? submitted by /u/austra_hazel [link] [comments]
