Original Summary
Basically it’s a quick way to serve your project on your local network. My personal use case was to near instantly serve so I could test mobile first design on an actual phone. Most experienced developers will already do this by hand, but this just makes it a tad easier, experienced or not. It cleans up after itself too and avoids including files you don’t want shared on your network (partly and still with due diligence needed of course but more than a regular quick - - host addition command does when doing it by hand) It could still be better, doesn’t use tunnels, will probably have some quirks on windows already running services (didn’t get to testing those quite yet). I’d like to include a built in HTTPS option in the future such as mkcert. Some fallback options or advisories when on a public network could be better too but I’ll figure that out while using it more. It was mostly built for myself but then I added some more options for future me, for my dev team and stack at work and figured I should polish it up to be more scalable. You know how that goes. It started as something convenient for myself, but I decided to share it. Something with the metadata seems off for publishing on the marketplace so I’ve emailed them about that since I can’t really find the trigger. Doesn’t quite matter for me since the vain route is good enough for now. Note that this is still early stage and I’ve built it mostly for my own convenience. I did use agentic engineering to make the code better commented and fill in some gaps for frameworks I didn’t use, however I do bring my professional dev knowledge and didn’t approach this differently than I would any professional project where we use ai in our team. I own the plan, the code and the outcome. Feel free to check it out or use it here https://github.com/ManonLef/mobile-serve submitted by /u/Leffery [link] [comments]
