Original Summary
Hey r/SideProject 👋 Solo dev from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 here. Just shipped Dawnli on iOS after 3 months of nights and weekends. Android is in device testing right now and should be out in a few weeks. The honest reason I built it: I tried a few popular mood journal apps and kept running into the same two issues. The pricing felt steep for what's essentially a daily check-in habit, and I got increasingly weirded out by the idea that my mood data, which is genuinely personal, was sitting on someone else's server. So I started wondering if I could build a mood journal where the data physically can't leave the phone, at a price that didn't feel like a tax on self-reflection. That's basically what Dawnli is. SQLite on-device. No analytics SDK. No crash reporting. No account, no sign-up, no email. The app makes only one network call: to the App Store when someone buys premium. What's in it: 3-tap mood logging (mood → tags → optional note/photo) Streaks, calendar view, year-in-pixels Correlation insights - figures out which tags track with better/worse moods (e.g. "late nights → -0.4 mood") Time-of-day patterns PIN + Face ID lock, 6 themes, 5 fonts Stack for the curious: Expo SDK 52, RN + TypeScript, expo-router, expo-sqlite, Zustand, victory-native for charts. Three things I'd genuinely love feedback on: The 3-tap flow - does it actually feel that fast, or is there a snag? The paywall - too aggressive, not aggressive enough? I honestly can't tell anymore. Anything that feels rough. I've been staring at it too long. iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dawnli/id6762422633 Web: https://www.dawnli.app/ Roast it, love it, ask anything. I'll be here replying all day. submitted by /u/Wild_Dev [link] [comments]
