Original Summary
For the last 3-4 weeks I’ve been building a car-recognition game in the evenings. You get a tight crop of a car photo, usually a headlight or a grille, and each wrong guess zooms it out a step. There are four daily puzzles from easy to impossible, and the fewer steps you need, the better. After you get the car there’s a bonus question on the year. The daily works without an account, and there’s a ranked 1v1 mode too (the queue is empty right now, so it’s mostly for playing a friend with a challenge link). Stack, for the curious: Next.js and Postgres on a small Hetzner box, photos from Wikimedia Commons on Cloudflare R2. I also built most of it with an AI coding assistant, and I’m not hiding that. I chose the design, the photographs and the difficulty myself, and I fix whatever people report. The thing I’m least sure about: someone on another subreddit told me the difficulty is very European. They were fast with American and Japanese cars, and struggled with Renault and Opel. If you play it, I’d love to hear which cars felt too easy or too hard for you, wherever you’re from. https://guesstheride.com/?src=reddit-sideproject submitted by /u/Ok-Ear8977 [link] [comments]
