Alright now when I write it down, I feel like I’m asking you guys how to scam someone online . The thing is, I'm building a B2B tool that analyses a business's own financial numbers (cash position, margins, supplier and customer payment terms) to show whether a deal/contract/order with their clients or suppliers helps or hurts its cash flow. It only works if the user types in real figures. That's my problem. The maths works, but I'm a solo founder nobody has heard of, with no customers, no case studies and no security certifications. Why would a stranger give me their numbers? My target users already hand their financial data to third parties like lenders and finance providers, so it's not that they won't share. They just have no reason to trust me yet. Which is a big fair enough but still . A few things I'm trying to figure out: Do early customers actually care about SOC 2 or ISO 27001, or is that something only enterprise buyers ask for? I can't afford either right now. What gave you credibility before you had any customers? Free manual reviews, a public security page, being open about what you store, something else? (With B2B, this is extra sensitive so people rarely have a reason to give it a shot) . Is it better to ask for less data up front and earn the rest, or to let people try it with made-up numbers first? (I’ve currently included these in my landing page but a made up number is just not convincing enough). To be honest, I've only tested it on invented examples. The maths is checked (the engine re-simulates every plan and verifies each limit), but I haven't run it on a real business's numbers yet, which is exactly why I need people to try it. So I'm also stuck on a chicken-and-egg problem. I can't prove it works without real data, and I can't get real data without trust.
