Original Summary

A few weeks ago, I realized my nervous system was completely fried. Whenever my brain wouldn't shut up at 3 AM—replaying conversations, stressing about tomorrow, or just spinning—I knew I needed to journal to get it out of my head. But the friction of traditional journaling is impossible when you are already mentally exhausted. You have to turn on a lamp, find a pen and paper, and physically sit up. If you use a digital app, you get hit with a blinding white UI and have to type out massive paragraphs on a tiny keyboard. It was too much work, so I would just open social media to numb the anxiety instead, which ultimately destroyed my sleep. I needed a sanctuary. So I built Beacon . It is a brutally simple, completely pitch-black voice journal. The UI is incredibly sleek and designed for zero friction. There is no "getting ready" to use it. You don't even need to fully open your eyes. You just open the app in the dark, hit the glowing record button, externalize whatever mental loop is keeping you awake, and close it. Speaking your thoughts aloud forces your brain to process them into a straight line, which breaks the spiral. That alone fixed my sleep onset issue. But I am an engineer, so I wanted to see if I could extract value from those chaotic audio dumps. I built an AI pattern recognition engine into the backend called "The Thread" to analyze 30 days of transcripts and point out the user's hidden blind spots. When I tested the early builds, the LLM was acting like a people-pleaser. If there wasn't enough data, it would hallucinate a generic "horoscope" insight like: "You feel anxious when life gets busy. Remember to give yourself grace." It was patronizing garbage. I realized that if a tool is actually going to be useful to high-performers, it needs to have a spine. So yesterday, I completely re-architected the synthesis pipeline: I killed the fallback: If there is no undeniable mathematical pattern in your transcripts, the app stays completely silent. It will not make something up. I hardcoded a "Falsifiability" requirement: I forced the LLM to anchor every insight to a specific, quoted trigger. Instead of saying "you get stressed," it now says, "you consistently question your life choices the day after you check your bank balance." It has to take a stance you can actually disagree with. I banned therapy jargon: No more "cognitive distortion," "subconscious," or "hold space." It operates as a brutal, objective mirror. Beacon is currently in private beta. I am keeping it pitch-black and low-stimulation. Right now, I just need 50 brutal beta testers who actually struggle with 3 AM overthinking and mental clutter. I need to know if the zero-light interface actually helps you sleep, and I need to know if the pattern engine actually catches your blind spots a month from now. https://testflight.apple.com/join/jwMzWPPe I’ll be in the co
