Original Summary

I've been building Flow, a mobile-first personal expense tracker. The starting point wasn't really “I want to build another budgeting app.” It was that I found a few things frustrating about the way existing expense trackers work. The problems Expense tracking becomes a chore. Logging a simple ₹100–₹500 purchase can involve multiple screens, fields and taps. After a few days, it's easy to stop recording smaller expenses altogether. Personal spending and group spending don't fit together. If I pay ₹3,000 for dinner with friends, I haven't actually spent ₹3,000. My share might only be ₹1,000, but traditional expense trackers still treat the entire ₹3,000 as my expenditure. You often need different tools for different things. One app for tracking expenses, another for splitting group expenses, and sometimes a spreadsheet to understand where everything went. Financial apps can ask for more access than I want to give them. I didn't want an expense tracker that needed SMS access, bank credentials or other financial data just to make tracking convenient. And once I have all the transactions, I still want a simple answer: Am I actually on track this month, and where are my spending leaks? What I built Flow is designed to make the entire process simpler, from logging expenses to understanding and improving spending habits. ⚡ Fast expense logging A single streamlined flow for amount, date, category, payment mode and notes, designed to get an expense logged in <10 seconds. 👥 Personal + group expenses in one workflow Log the full ₹3,000 dinner, split it between yourself, Rahul and Sneha, and only your ₹1,000 share contributes to your personal spending. The remaining ₹2,000 automatically appears in an “Owed to You” ledger until settled. 🎯 A budget that helps you stay on track Instead of making budgeting feel complicated, Flow gives you a simple view of how much you've spent, how much remains, how many days are left in the month and what your safe daily spending limit looks like. The Green → Amber → Red gauge helps you quickly understand whether you're within your target. 📊 Analytics to help identify spending leaks Category breakdowns, spending percentages, visual charts and a daily spending calendar help you understand where and when your money is going. The goal isn't just to show numbers, but to make patterns and unnecessary spending easier to spot. 💡 Insights and recommendations The longer you use Flow, the more useful your spending history becomes — helping identify changes in your habits, areas where you may be overspending and opportunities to improve. 🔐 Privacy-first + lightweight No SMS scraping or bank-password access. The app uses account-level data isolation and can fall back to local storage when offline. 📱 PWA instead of another huge app download Flow can be installed directly to your home screen without going through the App Store or Play Store. 🆓 Free to use for now Flow is currently free to use, so
