Original Summary

Hey r/SideProject , If you're a student, you probably know this: you've got a project idea (a club app, a robotics build, a campus map, a mural, a research tool), but the people who could help are scattered across group chats, Discord servers and classes you're not in. And when a project ends, all the progress lives in someone's camera roll. Same thing in neighborhoods: someone wants to start a community garden tracker or free Wi-Fi for their block, posts once, and it disappears. So I built [Launch Commons](launchcommons.com). It's free, and it's built for students, clubs and community projects. How it works Share an idea in a few sentences and say what skills you need (coding, design, video, organizing, hardware...). Anyone can click "I'm interested". When you're ready, turn the idea into a project and bring those people onto your team. Your project page keeps everything together: video updates, shared notes your whole team edits live, and who's working on it. It's great for a portfolio, too. Every video has notes beside it , so a devlog or demo comes with the checklist, code or parts list. See something cool? Offer to help. Say what you're good at and when you're free. It's an easy way to get real project experience. Who it's for Students looking for teammates for hackathons, class projects or clubs Student orgs and makerspaces documenting what they build Neighborhood and community projects that need volunteers Anyone learning a skill who wants a real project to practice on What's next: live streaming, so you can build on stream with up to four teammates and your notes beside the video. I'm looking for people who'd like to test it first. There's a 3-minute tour video on the site if you want the quick version. It's early, and I'd love feedback, especially from students and anyone running a club or community project: Would you post your project here, or invite your club? What would you need to find teammates through it? Anything confusing or broken? Heads-up: it works on laptops and desktops for now, not phones. A mobile version is on the list. Thanks for reading. I'll be in the comments. submitted by /u/Loud_Country8250 [link] [comments]
