Wanted to share something that I have been laboring over. One of many ways that our household connects is through TV and Movies. My wife and I have several shows we watch in the evening together. Movie night with the kids is a common occurrence on the weekend. Sometimes, the hard part is finding something to watch. At dinner with friends one evening, I recognized that our conversation at some point had evolved to an exchange of shows or documentaries that we had seen recently. Inevitably, my wife had her phone out taking notes for later. The more I thought about it, this seemed to happen with every couple we wen’t out with. It hit me, the best recommendations we have ever gotten for shows, movies or documentaries didn’t come from some algorithm on Netflix saying “Because you watched _______, you may want to try” or from ads cultivated from my search and purchase history, they come from friends and family that I trust and actually know me. People that I already have things in common with. Enter, WatchLately. A personal media platform where you connect with friends, work colleagues and family to keep those office and dinner conversations going. I call it "personal" media because unlike social media, where you collect people, on WatchLately, you collect titles and it is designed to be personal. Friend requests and connections are intentional and deliberate. Profiles don’t tell a story, they display the stories you that interest you. There are platforms out there that allow you to save watchlists and find new material, this is the first one designed around this real life, human interaction. The intention is to keep those dinner conversations going. Core Features through the current build are: Personal entertainment library — Organize titles into Saved for Later, Currently Watching, and Finished while preserving ratings and viewing history. Powerful title discovery — Search movies, series, actors, directors, and their filmographies using current TMDB information, artwork, cast, seasons, ratings, descriptions, and trailers. Personalized “Where to Watch” guidance — Select your streaming services and quickly see whether a title is included with your subscriptions, available free with ads, or offered to rent or buy. WatchNext — Get a short list of strong choices from YOUR personal watchlist based on your mood, available time, movie-versus-series preference, who is watching, your library, trusted recommendations, and active seasonal lists. Seasonal Lists — Build temporary collections such as a Spooky Watchlist or Holiday Watchlist. Seasonal titles remain separate from your permanent library and return in future seasons. Friends you actually know — Find people through exact names, handles, connection codes, or private invitations. Connections require consent and expose only privacy-permitted information. Trusted recommendations — Recommend a title privately to a Friend, Household, or Dinner Table with a personal note. Recipients can respond and fo
