Original Summary
Built notifkit a while back, an open source notification service (email, sms, push, webhooks) on postgres + redis. It’s doing 10M+ notifications a month now, so I wanted to see how far it could go. Put the whole thing on 2 vCPUs, about $25 setup in aws, and load tested it. The first quick test said 375/s, which I posted way too early. Ran it properly for 15 mins with retries and failures and it settled at around 200/s. That’s about 17M a day, so 500M+ a month if it holds. Postgres and redis maxed out before the app did, which I didn’t expect. To be fair, this was on my laptop with a fake email provider and only 15 mins long, so take the big number with a pinch of salt. Full writeup: https://notifkit.dev/articles/notifications-on-a-25-dollar-server.html Repo: https://github.com/devkitshq/notifkit Curious if anyone here self hosts their notifications or just sprinkles emails, push here and there in code I did similar test for novu on my local laptop and it gave me about 80 ingestion, 10 deliveries per sec. I wasn't sure if it was really that slow or wrong setup, will bench novu again over weekend sometime on aws and see if it holds. submitted by /u/Automatic_Hand4780 [link] [comments]
