Original Summary
Hey r/SaaS ! I scanned my own Gmail and found 800 companies that had my email. Purchases, marketing emails, one time "coupons" I signed up for that have been just living in my inbox for years. I built a tool to handle the Unsubscribe, Opt-Out and Data Deletion requests for me to get a handle on what companies keep and sell my data. What it does Scans your inbox. It reads who each email is from, the subject and the date, and nothing else. (Gmail metadata scope) Lists every company that has your email. (Uses deterministic logic to categorize companies: Subscriptions, Marketing-Only, Banking, Financial, etc.) Unsubscribes you from marketing lists, for free. Optionally asks those companies, plus 220+ data brokers, to stop selling and delete your data. That’s a $29 one-time fee. Nothing is sent without your OK. How I built it Next.js and Postgres, hosted on Railway. Gmail API with Google sign-in (and email / pass account creation) The hardest part was matching senders to companies and finding a working unsubscribe path. The algorithm will keep learning as more folks scan for companies. Your scans will help others. Where it is now It launched on Product Hunt last week and finished #9 with 121 upvotes. 75 New Accounts, 35 inbox scans, one annual subscriber. What I’d like feedback on Does the free scan, then optional paid cleanup, feel like the right model? Is the “reads headers only” explanation on the first screen convincing, or does it still feel risky to connect Gmail? Link: www.ghostifier.com . Happy to answer anything about the build or what the brokers actually do with those requests. submitted by /u/ghostifier-dev [link] [comments]
