Original Summary
A bit controversial, and this is not a side project yet, but more of an idea: As some may have already noticed, Claude has suspended its startup program, and while there is a lot of backlash, I personally don't blame them. Compute is expensive, has a strong environmental impact, and Claude is a company not a charity. I think a better idea would be a crowd sourced approach via a platform: People with good ideas submit proposals for projects they want to build, and other users/ investors can bid on these proposals/ sponsor a Claude subscription. Users are pre-selected eg. by targeting the top 3-5 universities per country. How I came up with this is based on a personal story: As a child I grew up poor, and it was often the very small help I got from others (mostly entrepreneurs or high earners I met "on my path"), that helped me get into the middle class with a comfortable 6 figure salary. Paying this forward, I ended up hiring 2 motivated developers in the Philippines, so do some coding tasks for me. This was pre-COVID. Eventually, they did not produce a lot of great code for me, because they were young, inexperienced, and my ideas kind of sucked. But here is the twist: they both went on breaking into IT, because the money helped them to finish their education, and they themselves also managed to enter into the middle class in their country. What are your thoughts on this? PS. Sorry for the long write-up. submitted by /u/Exotic_Fig_4604 [link] [comments]
