Original Summary
I wanted to open my notes and keep working without a login or an internet connection. That’s the idea behind Nota, the desktop workspace I’m building. It started as an AFFiNE fork with the BlockSuite editor. I built a new backend around an offline workspace instead of requiring a hosted service for everyday use. Credit to AFFiNE and BlockSuite for the foundations. There are documents and whiteboards, and your workspace is stored on your device. On-device AI is available too, with compatible hardware and an installed model. Downloads and updates need internet; Google Drive backup and hosted AI providers are optional. No account is needed for the local workspace. I’m aiming for an offline alternative to Notion, not claiming it matches every Notion feature yet.
