Original Summary
Hey all. I play keys, and the go-to app for running your sounds live (MainStage) is Mac only. The Windows options are either paid or not really built for keyboard players, so I started building my own: GigChain Keys. It's free and open source (GPLv3), and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. What it does so far: - Runs your VST3 instruments and effects, with a setlist where every song has its own sounds (switching songs is instant) - A mixer with splits and layers (bass in the left hand, piano + strings in the right) - Right-click any knob → MIDI Learn → turn a knob on your keyboard and it's mapped - Your keyboard's Play/Stop/arrow buttons just work - Chord charts: paste from any chord site and the chords land on the words; tap a chord to see how to play it - A Perform mode with big buttons for touch screens - A practice mode with falling notes, plus daily finger warm-ups that score your timing Being upfront: I built it with a lot of help from AI coding tools. It has a big automated test suite and builds on all three systems, but it's an early alpha. I'm looking for keyboard players to try it at home or in rehearsal and tell me what breaks before anyone trusts it on a gig. Missing features, stability, setup, whatever. I'd really like to know what matters most. submitted by /u/RaVN3X [link] [comments]
