Original Summary

A client handed me a PRD/SRS for a loyalty platform for small businesses: customers earn points on orders, redeem rewards, and can pay part of a bill with coins. I built the proof of concept with Claude. It’s a client project, not something I’m selling. I’m sharing how it went. What got built: a superadmin approves new businesses. Owners set up earning rules and campaigns. Staff create orders for walk-in customers and verify reward vouchers. Customers can pay with coins at checkout. Every business’s data is completely separate from the others’. Stack: NestJS + Prisma + Postgres, Next.js, and one Docker command to run it all. What I learned: Have it read the whole spec before writing any code. It flagged 7 gaps the PRD never answered: who approves new businesses, what happens to points on a refund, how bonus rules stack, and so on. Deciding those up front saved a lot of rework. Use a ledger, not a balance column. Every points change is a row, and refunds are reversal rows. That made refunds, expired vouchers and audits simple. Tests are what made it safe to keep moving fast: 453 unit, 434 end-to-end and 18 browser tests. The video was also made in code, from real screenshots of the running app. Happy to answer questions about the setup. submitted by /u/ProcessFree [link] [comments]
