Original Summary

I wanted to recreate the iPhone Duo folding animation on my MacBook. That experiment grew into curtains, animated wallpapers, a coding robot and a tiny greenhouse living on my desktop. It’s called UnfoldMyMac, and I’m the developer. It now has 13 lid effects, 10 dynamic wallpapers and a new Creative Scenes collection. Some of my favourites: Curtains and peeking characters that follow your MacBook’s lid as you open and close it. Codex Mission Control: a little robot connected through local Codex hooks. It reacts when Codex is working, waiting for approval or finished. GitHub After Hours: your public repositories, followers and recent push events become a floating city. Pulse: CPU load, memory and battery information feed a moving chrome sculpture. Hinge Garden: a glass snail carrying a miniature greenhouse. It emerges as you open the lid. Plug in your charger and a ripple travels through the water, roots and shell to light the greenhouse. Hinge Garden also has optional tilt/gyroscope reactions on supported Macs, pointer parallax and microphone reactions that release pollen. Sound is processed locally. There’s also an open-wheel race car scene and an aurora around a 3D Earth shaped by real NOAA space-weather data. The wallpapers and Creative Scenes run behind your windows, including on external displays. It’s free ($0) and open source. You’ll need Apple silicon and macOS 26+.
