Original Summary
I kept bouncing off habit apps because the reward was always a number going up. A streak, a count, a chart. None of it felt like anything. So I built Chisel. You write down what you're trying to do, pick a length, and while the session runs a block of marble gets carved into a bust of a Stoic philosopher. A statue is about four hours of real focus. Finished ones stand in a courtyard you scroll through. Finish one in Discipline mode (no pausing, and quitting takes a deliberate hold) and you unlock black Nero Marquina for the next block. Two rules I set myself. No streaks and no guilt, so quitting early keeps every minute you earned. And every quote in the app is real and cited. I checked one Musonius citation against Lutz's numbering and found the secondary sources had the fragment number wrong, which would have sent anyone looking it up to the wrong passage entirely. The part that took longest was the carving. Each bust is a transparent PNG. At load it generates Voronoi stone cells around it, orders them outside in, and drops them as progress advances, so the stone falls away instead of fading out. Free, iPhone, no ads. I'd like to hear where it's confusing before I add anything else to it. submitted by /u/Turbulent-Glass1552 [link] [comments]
