Original Summary
Hey everyone, I launched a shared-household app recently. I thought it was great and then the data made me notice something. I was assuming everyone opening knew about how good it was and was ready to register before even seeing anything. My flow was: open app -> auth/create account or "take a tour" -> tutorial/onboarding -> app homescreen. Login screen has three buttons: sign in, register, or "take a tour" which drops you into a fake household with sample expenses and a shopping list chores ecc.. already in it. Three days (yeah the numbers are small i know 😅): 47 took the tour, 35 registered 2 of 47 tour users ever converted to a real account 40 of 47 touched nothing at all after landing My first thought was " i need to remove the tour"(which i had to add due to iOS requirement with auth and paywall) but then i understood something else: The tour isn't the problem. Nothing on my launch screen says what the app is, the explainer fires after you register. So people take the door that doesn't ask for anything, land in a stranger's furnished apartment looking at someone else's grocery list, and leave in under a minute. So the question (or more open conversation ice breaker) how do you handle this part? did you notice big improvement switching? or what do you think as a user about it when opening apps? i'm already thinking of moving the tutorial earlier but it's a WIP at the moment. Any thought would be great, i would like to see perspective as users and as devs :) if anyone is interested i have the post about the app here submitted by /u/ElectricalEditor555 [link] [comments]
