Original Summary
Hey all, I'm Heather and I work at Saintsallabs. Full disclosure up front: this is our product. I'm not trying to do a sneaky ad, I just want real opinions from people who use AI tools every day. It's called SaintSal (we call the assistant Sal). It runs on your desktop, on Mac and Windows, so it's not one more browser tab you lose track of. We kept running into the same problem. Every request went to the biggest, most expensive model, even when a smaller one would have done the job fine, and the costs added up quickly. So we built an engine (HACP) that sends each request to the model that fits it. Simple stuff goes to lighter models, harder stuff goes to the heavy hitters. That means fewer tokens and a smaller bill, and you set the guardrails yourself instead of hoping the defaults match what you want. I would love to hear some feedback from you! If you use AI tools a lot, is cost something you actually think about, or is it just background noise?Would you trust automatic model routing, or would you rather pick the model yourself every time? What's the one thing a desktop assistant would need to do before you'd keep it open all day? It's at saintsal.ai if you want to try it for free. Tear it apart if you want to, since that's more useful to us than polite compliments. I'll be in the comments answering questions. submitted by /u/SaintSalLabs [link] [comments]
