Original Summary
My friends and I have always loved a party game to end the night. So, the day after I decided to quit my job, I started building a Jackbox-style game site just for us. The name... couchslop.
As the name suggests, the idea behind couchslop is to create a playable game as fast as possible, then iterate on it until it's actually fun. The first game, Crystal Ridge Defense, is a multiplayer tower defense game where your team defends against waves of ships (psst, one person can play the villain and send ships at everyone else). Open it on whatever is plugged into your TV and everyone scans in to use their phone as a controller. To afford towers, you earn gold by answering trivia and playing mini-games (a potato horse race and a Family Feud parody).
If you want to try it with friends, open https://couchslop.com/tower on whatever is connected to your TV. Hit "How to play" in the lobby first: it walks everyone through it on their phones in about 3 minutes.
or
If you're alone at your desk and just want to see how it works, open this secret link (shhh) and join from your phone. Bot teammates will fill the empty seats. https://couchslop.com/tower/host?solo
It's been a lot of fun playing with coworkers and friends. I even made a special edition for my friend's bachelor party, with trivia the guests wrote about the groom. That turned into selling custom editions for $9.99. The game itself is free, no ads, no sign-up.
I'd love some feedback, especially from anyone who plays it in a group and I am happy to share how it works under the hood.
