Original Summary
I’ve been working in a variety of marketing strategist roles for nearly a decade and recently have started doing audits for SaaS website homepages made by technical founders, usually solopreneurs. It’s no surprise that their product expertise is deep. These are individuals that have put a lot of thought into their SaaS and its functionality, and these are great products. However, I noticed a pretty consistent trend amongst technical founders looking for their first sales. There’s a trade off between how much time and effort they’ve put into developing their product, and how much they understand their competition. If, to an impatient buyer, you aren’t being clear about your advantage over established competition, why would they give you a chance? An example of a social media management tool’s headline that reads: “The all-in-one social media management platform for modern teams”. A fix would be to lead with the competitive advantage that beats hootsuite and buffer. Something like “Social scheduling without the per-seat pricing. Unlimited team members, one flat price” If you’re already able to get eyes on your page but the sales aren’t coming in, that could be your ticket from 0 to 1. Do you technical folks feel like you fall into the same trap? Do a quick test on your own homepage, try swapping your competitors name into your headline and see if it still works. submitted by /u/Epi6lp [link] [comments]
