Original Summary

Hi everyone, looking for some candid feedback because I'm having trouble figuring out what to do. I built an app called Paddle Past. It's a 6-minute, science-informed sequence designed to help someone get through an urge while it's at its peak. Think drinking, social media, gambling, vaping, etc. I've been testing Facebook/Instagram ads and, surprisingly, the ads seem to resonate. I'm getting a little over a 2.25% CTR. But I've now spent more than $100 on meta and have had zero purchases. There are a few things that complicate the funnel: I care a lot about privacy with this product. There's no advertising, no accounts, and the app is designed so that your data stays private. Because of that, I don't want to install Meta's tracking SDK just to improve ad attribution/optimization. Seems like I need the SDK to target recent iOS versions, so right now I'm sending people from the Meta ad → website → App Store I originally priced the app at $14.99 one-time, which I quickly realized was probably too high for an unfamiliar app with no trust established. I dropped it to $4.99, and I've since added a demo and a video showing exactly what the experience looks like. Still no conversions. The next experiment I'm considering is making the app free to download, giving people 3 complete uses, and then asking them to pay to unlock it permanently. What I'm struggling to figure out is what the current data is actually telling me: Is a ~2.25% CTR evidence that the problem/value proposition is resonating, but the purchase friction is killing conversion? Is $4.99 still too much to ask before someone has experienced the product? Is the Meta → website → App Store funnel just too lossy? Is the more uncomfortable answer that people are interested enough in the idea to click, but not interested enough to actually use/pay for the product? I'm very open to the answer being "this isn't a monetizable product." I'd just like to figure out the right experiment to distinguish that from a bad pricing/onboarding/distribution model. If you were looking at this funnel, what would you do next? submitted by /u/Acceptable-Egg-1801 [link] [comments]
