Original Summary

Hi everyone, In my previous posts I mentioned hitting $470 and then $927 sales in a single day. Yesterday I did $1,478 in one day. Also since releasing V2 last week, revenue is up around 170%. Now something else happened which made me think a bit. A VC found me from Reddit and reached out asking if I would be interested in fundraising, so we had a call. I’m not really sure if I’m interested tbh. I’m also not sure if I actually need outside funding right now. I went through fundraising with my previous startup and I know how distracting it can get, especially as a solo founder. You still need to sell, build product, talk with customers, fix problems etc. Then on top of that you have investor calls, pitching, legal stuff, financial stuff and a lot of follow ups. My biggest concern is losing focus while the company is actually growing pretty fast right now. The only reason I took this VC call is because I already know them indirectly. They invested in friends of mine and led their pre-seed round. They raised $1.1M and later got into YC. Those founders are also my customers. I built their GTM workflows and I still manage their email infrastructure, so there is already a relationship there. I had some other VC inbound before and didn’t really continue with them because fundraising wasn’t something I cared about. Interestingly after this call, a few more VCs reached out too. I still haven’t replied to them because I’m trying to decide if I even want to start this process. And there is another thing I find weird about fundraising. When you already have revenue but you’re still early, suddenly there are 100 different questions about the numbers. Revenue is good, but what about MRR? MRR is good, but what about churn? Growth is good, but what about retention? There is always another “but”. But if you try raising pre-revenue, then you can also get the opposite answer: “There’s nothing here yet, come back when you have traction.” So I’m kind of in the middle now. Do I just keep bootstrapping, hire maybe 1-2 people and continue scaling it myself? Or does it actually make sense to raise a serious round and try to grow much faster? Keep in mind I’m still a solo founder. Would especially love to hear from founders who were already making revenue when they raised. What did you do? submitted by /u/adgrow [link] [comments]
