Original Summary
Hi, I'm Nathan, the developer of Zuppi. I knew recipe apps already existed when I started this. My partner and I had tried some, but I kept getting frustrated by ingredients or quantities not importing properly, clunky bits of the experience and how quickly some apps pushed paid plans. I kept thinking: I could build this the way I'd want it to work. Which is a dangerous thought when you're a developer. Our recipes were scattered across TikTok, Instagram, websites, screenshots and Notes. The original goal was simple: put them in one place and trust that, when we came back six months later, the recipe would still be there and the quantities would actually be right. It's grown quite a bit since then. There are native iOS and Android apps, recipe importing, a cookbook, manual recipes, shopping lists, pantry management, barcode scanning and friends/recipe sharing. The backend has become considerably more elaborate than I intended. The part I'm most obsessive about is importing. An import that looks successful but quietly gets an ingredient wrong is worse to me than admitting it couldn't understand the recipe. Getting the written ingredients and method consistently right is my priority at the moment. I'm not pretending I've solved all of this. It's still being actively developed, there are bugs, and some areas need more work. I've reached the point where feedback from people who aren't me, my partner, friends or family would be really useful. If you'd like to try it: iOS TestFlight beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/qqU268Ad Android alpha: https://android.zuppi.recipes The Android page walks you through joining Test Pilots and opting into the Google Play test with your Google Play account. I'd love to hear what feels awkward when you save a recipe and come back to cook it. If an ingredient is missing, a quantity is wrong or a screen is confusing, please tell me. The source recipe and what you expected would help a lot. And for anyone else who has built something in an already crowded category, what convinced you it was worth carrying on?
