Original Summary
This week I launched The Royal Ledger, a public leaderboard with one rule: whoever has paid the most in total wears the crown, until someone pays more. Why I built it: the internet already runs on paid status. Blue checkmarks, boosted posts, ads, vanity everything. I wanted to make the most honest version of that: no algorithm, no followers, just a public scoreboard where the number is the number. How it works: Pay any amount from $1 Repeat payments add up, so you can fight back after being dethroned Titles by position: Royalty, Duke, Baron, Knight, Merchant… and Peasant You can attach your Instagram, TikTok, X or Facebook to your spot, so small businesses and creators get a bit of visibility out of it Every change of #1 is recorded in a public throne history Coming soon: monthly rankings, with each month's champion kept in an archive forever So far: the first ruler paid $1 and named themselves "Peasant." A small business took the throne for $2 the next day, then an events company took it for $3. The Peasant has been demoted to Duke, which I still don't fully understand. No prize, no catch, just the throne. Built on Cloudflare Workers + D1 + Stripe Checkout, launched in an evening. Happy to answer questions about the build. Honest question for you all: is this a fun internet experiment, or is there a real business in "brands fighting for a spot on a scoreboard"? I'd love blunt feedback. theroyaledger.com submitted by /u/NoWorld8694 [link] [comments]
