Original Summary
I’m 23, from India, and I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to move toward startups. I’ve worked on small product ideas, explored automation, GTM, growth, founder’s office roles, talked to founders, tried building things, applied to startups, and basically kept telling myself: "Just keep moving. Eventually it’ll click." But recently, something feels off. I’m not exactly burnt out from working 12 hours a day. Honestly, that would almost make more sense. Instead, I’ve had periods where I’m barely doing anything. I recently got sick and spent around 12 days mostly sitting around, scrolling reels, doom-scrolling, and feeling like I was wasting my time. Now even things that I normally find interesting feel exhausting. Job applications feel exhausting. Following up with people feels exhausting. Replying to messages feels exhausting. And then I start wondering: Am I actually supposed to be a founder someday, or am I just forcing myself into this identity because I think I’m supposed to want it? The weird part is that I do like building things. I like figuring out problems, talking to users, thinking about products, GTM, and trying to make something work with very limited resources. But I’m starting to realize that liking the idea of entrepreneurship and liking the actual day-to-day life of entrepreneurship might be two very different things. I also feel like I’m missing out on life outside of all this. Friends. Football. Going somewhere without thinking about whether it helps my career. Doing something just because it’s fun. I’ve spent so much time thinking about what I need to become that I’m not sure I’m actually enjoying being who I am right now. And maybe that's the part I’m struggling with most. For the founders here: Did you ever go through a phase where you genuinely questioned whether you wanted the founder/startup life at all? How did you figure out whether you were actually tired and needed a break versus realizing that you were pursuing the wrong thing? I’m not looking for motivational quotes or “keep grinding bro” advice. I’d genuinely like to hear what it looked like when the reality of entrepreneurship stopped being exciting and started feeling repetitive, boring, or meaningless. Because right now, I’m trying to figure out whether I need a break, a different direction, or just to stop treating my entire life like a startup roadmap. submitted by /u/SingleRaccoon5242 [link] [comments]
