Original Summary
Hey all, I've been working on this for almost two years now. Started looking into the parentage of cannabis strains, kept finding gaps and contradictions, and somehow ended up with 43,000+ entries. I do the research and data entry, my wife helps out, and two brothers are building the site. A lot of my time goes into checking breeder catalogues, digging through old forum threads, and trying to figure out whether two plants with the same name are actually the same thing. Quite a few breeders have disappeared over the years, taking their catalogues with them, so there's plenty of detective work involved. The site is called Origenetica. You can explore family trees, check parents and descendants, and see which breeders have used a particular cultivar in their own crosses. My favourite part is finding some obscure plant and realising it's an ancestor of thousands of others. You wouldn't guess it from how little anyone talks about it. Still plenty to improve, but it's reached a point where I'd like some feedback from people who aren't already into cannabis. https://origenetica.com Would be curious to hear whether the trees make sense if you don't know any of the names. I spend so much time looking at this stuff that it's getting hard to judge that myself.
