Original Summary
Hi everyone, I am an electronics hobbyist and a solo developer. I always wanted to work on hardware layouts away from my desk, so I built an iPad app called PCBPad, and it is now available on the App Store. A few things it handles: Apple Pencil routing: you sketch copper traces by hand and the app cleans them up into neat 45-degree angles on the grid. Touch gestures: two-finger tap for undo, three-finger tap for redo, and long press for quick contextual actions. 3D view: rotate and inspect your fully rendered board and components. Manufacturing export: generates standard Gerber and drill files directly from the iPad. It also works natively with KiCad, so you can start a board on your computer, tweak it on the iPad, and move back seamlessly. It is free during the initial release, works completely offline, has no ads, and requires no sign-up. Since I am building this solo, I would love to hear your thoughts on what feels intuitive and what feels clunky. Link: https://apps.apple.com/it/app/pcbpad/id6811658008 (Requires iPadOS 18 or later. Works best with Apple Pencil, but touch works fine too.) https://reddit.com/link/1wy5m82/video/puknek37rmth1/player submitted by /u/More_Recognition_978 [link] [comments]
