Original Summary
About a year ago, I started trying to remake Spore, but with more impactful creatures. A mistake during that process sent me down a rabbit hole. I’ve finally made the resulting project public. It’s called LoColemotion, and there are two parts I care about equally. The first is a locomotion SDK: a portable Rust core with native adapters for Godot/Jolt, Rapier/Parry, and MuJoCo. The controllers shown drive the creature’s joints in the physics simulation. No RL training, no hand-animated motion, and no extra body force pushing it along. The other half is the experiment harness. Early on, I was confidently told I had unassisted physics walking when I didn’t. So I needed a way to actually check the work I was doing with AI. For formal experiments, the question and pass conditions have to be declared before the run (preregistration). The harness checks the exact code and runtime, runs qualification checks and refusal controls, requires separate authorization to launch physics, and retains the original results regardless of outcome. In other words, the formal attempts are preregistered one-shots. Fixing a failed or invalid attempt requires a separately declared successor. The original stays in the record, and changing the code doesn’t quietly inherit an old qualification. I’ve burned more one-shots than I’d like to admit because of something stupid like malformed JSON. Those attempts still count as attempts. SDK1 has now passed its 20 declared, bounded milestones. Walking, turning, and getting up from prone have finite, per-engine evidence in all three engines. Qualified push, fall, recovery, and resumed walking are specific to Godot/Jolt. Formal engine equivalence and arbitrary creature support remain unproven. The evidence archive grew to roughly 517 GB. For the public launch, I put together a small proof index, original receipts, and a browser replay so people can inspect something without installing the whole lab. The replay shows recorded native development sessions with different setups. It doesn’t run new physics or provide a matched engine comparison. Watch the recordings Source, harness, evidence, and setup The covered source is available under custom community/commercial terms, explained in the repo. I already have SDK2 and SDK3 in mind for larger experiments and broader support. Thoughts? submitted by /u/IcyPyromancer [link] [comments]
