Original Summary
I’ve been working on ReceiptVault, a small offline-first app for storing receipts, tracking warranties, and keeping an eye on spending. The interesting part isn’t really the app itself. I launched it expecting… honestly, not much. Then 2 people paid for it. It’s only a tiny number, but seeing someone actually pull out their card and pay for something I built solo felt very different from seeing downloads or likes. The app currently has: 📸 Receipt scanning with on-device OCR 🧾 Local receipt storage 🏷️ Categories & expense tracking 🔔 Warranty tracking 🔐 Biometric app lock 📊 Spending insights 📤 CSV export + backup/restore ☁️ No cloud account / no syncing 💳 One-time purchase instead of another subscription I’m deliberately keeping it simple and privacy-focused. There are obviously already a ton of receipt/document scanning apps out there, so I’m not pretending I’ve invented a new category. I mainly wanted to see whether I could take an annoying little problem → build the whole thing → ship it → and get even a couple of strangers to pay. Turns out, yes. 2 customers isn't traction. But it is probably the most useful 2 customers I've had. Would love feedback from other indie hackers/side-project builders on what you'd focus on next: getting more users, improving retention, or just talking to the people who already paid? submitted by /u/annonyms_ [link] [comments]
