I'm the developer, so this is my own project. Have you ever thought about building apps or websites directly from your phone? That question is the reason Hefesto exists: it turns an Android phone into a real development workspace. It compiles Android APKs on the device itself, runs coding agents and carries its own Linux environment inside the app. No PC and no root needed - everything happens on the phone you already carry. What it does today: - Builds APKs on the phone: Alpine + proot with Gradle, the Android SDK, Kotlin and Java, with live progress and plain-language errors when a build fails. - Four agent engines: Hefesto's built-in agent, Google's Antigravity CLI, OpenCode and Hefesto local (GGUF models that run on the device, offline, with no API keys). - GitHub built in: clone, commit, push and open pull requests. - Editor, file tree, terminal, project previews and backups. - Stop the agent or the build from the notification and resume with one tap (new in 0.5.1). - Not only apps: websites, scripts and small tools work too. The hardest parts were getting Gradle and the Android SDK to work inside proot on a phone, and memory: the build is the peak, so the app keeps the build session warm between attempts, releases it after 15 minutes idle and gives you a button to free it. Stack: Kotlin + Jetpack Compose, Alpine Linux through proot, llama.cpp for the local models. Being honest: it is a beta. The first public release went out a few days ago and 0.5.1 today, so there is no user base to brag about - that part starts now. It can close on its own when memory fills up, especially while building or running the local model. The app includes a report button that sends me the details. It is free, no ads, no account. Android 8.0+, arm64-v8a, ~13 MB.
