I started MoneySplit because I was annoyed with expense trackers. I wanted transactions to show up automatically, but I didn't really want to connect my bank account to yet another service. Since banks already send transaction SMS, I started there. The first version basically just read those messages and turned them into transactions. Then I needed statement imports because SMS obviously doesn't cover everything. Then I added CSV/Excel imports. Then budgets. Then subscriptions. Then loans because I wanted to see my EMI schedule properly. Then savings goals. And somewhere along the way this stopped being the small expense tracker I originally planned 😅 It's now MoneySplit.
