While at home recovering from a long hospitalization for a (previously unknown) cardiac condition, I decided to take the leap and build my app, Availa. The app functions as a calendar/shift app, allowing the user to select emojis to represent their commitments. You can work any schedule (or not work at all) and add what works for you. The user then creates groups with their friends and family, these groups show a calendar view with a traffic light system, advising instantly when there is shared availability. Catch ups can be organised and those catch ups filter back to everyone’s separate calendars. I’ve got a nursing and ex-police background, so the “endless back-and-forth trying to find one night everyone’s free” problem is something I’ve lived on both sides of a rotating roster for year
