Original Summary
I just wanted to know if a specific term was mentioned in a video without having to watch the whole thing. Example: Topic "weight loss", looking for "calorie deficit". I had it search 5 related videos, check the transcripts, and it only found one valid match. That video mentioned "calorie deficit" three times: 03:18, 07:49, and 12:01. The first version was too loose. If I searched "meeting notes", it would return a transcript just because it contained the word "meeting". So I changed the matching rule. Now it only counts exact phrases, or all meaningful words close together. Much less clever, much more predictable. I'm using Scavio API for the search + transcripts right now. Having both of those in the same API made this one pretty quick to put together. I think it'll be handy for research where you don't want to sit through five 20-min videos just to find out whether someone discusses one specific thing. Anyone else building weird little utilities just to save yourself from watching videos? lol submitted by /u/GolfCurious [link] [comments]
