Hi! I'm [your year and subject]. My side project is LaTeX Squiggly : type \alpha , press space, get α, right where you typed, in any text box. I built it because I was tired of sending unreadable $\epsilon$ in group chats. Converting turned out to be the easy part. The hard part was not converting when it would be wrong: In a .tex file or on Overleaf, \alpha has to stay \alpha , so it switches off completely in TeX editors, code editors and terminals. 2^3 in a sentence or a_b in a variable name would rewrite themselves if scripts always converted, so superscripts only work inside $...$ . "I have $5$ left" is also inside dollar signs, so a span only converts if it contains a backslash, caret or underscore. Money has none. When there's no exact character, it tells you instead of guessing: \vec{v} is left as typed, with the reason. It ships as a Chrome extension, a Mac menu bar app and a Windows tray app (beta), all running the same engine. It's free and open source.
