Original Summary

https://reddit.com/link/1wu6mr0/video/tbmbqt0j5osh1/player The idea came from a problem I had with traditional focus apps: starting a timer is easy, but actually staying away from distracting apps for the whole session is the hard part. I wanted to see if adding a small game loop could make focusing feel more rewarding. So in Focus Alchemist, you can start a Pomodoro, countdown, or stopwatch session and block distracting apps while you work. If you complete the session, you earn potions that can be used to grow and collect different plants. 🌱🧪 The longer-term idea is simple: Focus in real life → earn potions → grow plants → build your collection. I also added mechanics that encourage you to leave your phone alone while focusing. For example, putting your phone face-down can improve the quality of the potions you earn. Instead of relying heavily on streaks, I wanted your collection to become a record of the time you’ve actually spent focusing. It’s now available on iPhone and iPad: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/focus-alchemist-pomodoro/id6782390299 I’m still improving it and would really appreciate feedback from other builders here. In particular, I’m curious: Does combining productivity with a collection game make you more interested in using a focus app, or would you prefer a focus tool to stay as simple as possible? Thanks for taking a look! submitted by /u/ideacreator2015 [link] [comments]
