Original Summary
I do product sourcing from China, and one of the repetitive parts of the workflow is seeing a product online and then trying to trace it back to possible suppliers. So I built Catalayer Find. The idea is pretty simple: Product page → detect the product → find matching supplier listings → compare the results Right now, Find can surface matching suppliers from sources like 1688 and Alibaba and help compare things like: • supplier matches • supplier pricing • price ranges • match signals • supplier information I built it as a Chrome extension because I wanted the workflow to start directly from the product page instead of constantly copying product titles, images, and keywords between different websites. But I also realized that supplier research shouldn’t disappear when you close the extension. So Find also has a workspace where searches can be revisited, supplier matches compared, and sourcing research continued later. You can see the current version here: https://find.catalayer.com/ It’s still early, and supplier matching is obviously the hardest part to get right. That’s actually what I’m most interested in getting feedback on. For anyone here who works with ecommerce, sourcing, private label, Amazon, Shopify, or Chinese suppliers: What information would you want to see before deciding whether a supplier match is actually worth investigating? For example: • company type / manufacturer vs trading company • years in business • MOQ • supplier response rate • price history • certifications • export history • product similarity • factory location • estimated landed cost I’m trying to figure out which signals actually matter versus which ones just create more noise. Any feedback is welcome. submitted by /u/stephenwilson97 [link] [comments]
