Original Summary
I switched to my browser this morning and found a tab I had opened two hours earlier. I had no memory of opening it. I have high-functioning ADD. The "high-functioning" part means I get a lot done. The "ADD" part means I start more than I finish, and I lose track of the smaller tasks that pile up behind the main ones. A half-written reply, a bug I meant to check, a config change I said I'd come back to. I work from home, and my kids come into the office regularly. They are lovely, and they are very good at wiping whatever I was thinking about. When I sit back down, I often can't remember what I was doing. AI tools have made this worse. On a normal day I have coding agents running, plus Muse, Instinct and OpenClaw, each on a different job, and each one needs some of my attention. I switch contexts more often than I used to, and every switch is another chance to lose something. So I built Mindthreads (ugh the "so I built" is such a Claude AI trope but really, I had a problem, so I built a solution..). It's not a to-do app. A to-do list holds things you haven't started yet. Mindthreads holds things you have started and haven't finished. You use it while you work, on the computer where the work is happening. It isn't a phone app for planning next week. It's not a notes app either. Notes are meant to stay around. Threads are meant to go away. You add one when you start something, and you complete it when you're done. The goal is an empty board. It's built for how an ADD brain works: Fast: press a shortcut, type a few words, and the thread is saved. It takes about two seconds, because if it takes ten I won't do it. Nested: threads can have sub-threads, since one task usually turns into three. Visible: a thread's color gets warmer the longer you leave it alone, so forgotten work stands out without you having to look for it. Fun: I spent more time than I'd like to admit making it look good. Completing a thread is meant to feel satisfying, because an ADD brain works better with small rewards. For the technically curious: it also has an MCP server, so other tools, agents included, can read and update your threads. That's a useful building block, but it's not the point. The app is for you, not for your agents. I built it for myself. If you often come back to your desk and can't remember what you were in the middle of, it might help you too. https://mindthreads.lemonberrylabs.com (My kids reviewed it. They like the colors.)
