we finally killed the threads section. like actually finished it. honestly this was the hardest part so far. we built the discovery feed, search, and the create post screen. the biggest headache was the post view page. i wanted it to feel like reddit where the text just expands and you scroll down to comments, but qt kept squishing everything into a tiny box. had to restructure the whole layout to use one giant scroll area. also added a notification system, bell with a red dot. took me a while to figure out why the red dot was invisible even though the code said it was showing up. turns out qt was rendering it at 0x0 pixels because i used negative margins. classic. also had to move all the network calls to background threads because the loading animation kept freezing. threads is done. moving on to DMs tomorrow. wish me luck. for those who dont know devmeld is basically a social platform built specifically for developers who wants to find collaborators. its like a mix of twitter and reddit but for coding. you can make posts, comment, search for users, and soon you'll be able to dm each other. it also has a code editor built in that you can use it with your teammates. im building the whole thing from scratch using pyside6 and firebase, and im using ai to write the code while i act as the architect and qa tester. its got custom hardware id banning so bots cant spam it, and a custom geometric loading animation because spinning circles are boring.   submitted by   /u/Petifys [link]   [comments]
