Genuine question I've been chewing on: is AI the new coding language? Like the way high-level languages replaced assembly, and frameworks replaced boilerplate. Maybe I'm late to this and everyone already had this debate. Here's why I'm asking. I have a 9-5, and in the last two weeks of evenings I shipped a 10-game daily puzzle site without opening a code editor. Not once. No terminal either. My setup: I have a persistent AI assistant I call Pip (it's a purple bat, don't ask). The workflow is stupidly simple. I describe what I want, it builds it, I test on my phone, I complain, it fixes it. I never see the code. I couldn't tell you what the codebase looks like, and honestly I'm not sure I need to. What came out is a little site called codevu. 10 daily puzzle games. Wordle-style one called Wordup, word ladder, mini crossword, math sprint, guess-the-flag, stuff like that. New puzzles every morning, free, no signup. Here's the thing though. I don't feel like I "didn't code." I feel like I coded in English. I spec features, I review behavior, I debug by describing symptoms. When the mini crossword was getting cut off on my iPhone SE screen, I didn't open devtools. I just said "the bottom is cut off on small screens" three times until it wasn't. That felt exactly like debugging, just in a different language. Before anyone jumps in about privacy and security, yeah, I get it. This is a puzzle site with no logins and no user data, so the blast radius if something weird happened is basically zero. Of course I wouldn't run this setup at work, where you're pushing proprietary code and secrets into a tool and the stakes are way higher. Different world entirely. The part that still needs a human: taste. I pick the mascot poses. I kill features. I decide when something feels right. The AI writes the code, but whether the site is any good is my call. And I have no idea if the games are too easy anymore because I've stared at them for two weeks straight. So yeah. Is describing software the new writing software? Am I late to this realization?
