Hi all, For the last three months I've been working on Aperlena, a search engine that pulls public tenders from across Europe into one place. Why: In Europe, public tenders are published on TED (the EU's official journal) plus dozens of national and regional portals, each with its own language, format and search logic. Paid tools exist, but they're expensive for freelancers and small companies. I wanted something free that lets you search everything at once. What it does right now: more than 2.2 million notices, more than 150,000 currently open more than 60 official sources in more than 35 countries search and interface in 6 languages free email alerts for new matching tenders more than 20 plain-language guides on how tendering works How I built it (short version): scheduled collectors for each source, a normalisation step to map very different formats into one schema, deduplication between TED and national portals, and a search index on top. The hardest part by far has been the data quality differences between countries. How it's funded: i subsidize it at the moment, but plan on running on ads so it can stay free. What I'd love feedback on: Is it clear within 10 seconds what the site does? Does search return what you expect? Try a keyword from your own field. Anything that feels broken, slow or confusing.
