Original Summary
I’ve been working on Dineships, a social dining app built around a pretty simple problem: You want to grab dinner, lunch, coffee or drinks — but nobody you know is available. Instead of planning something days in advance, Dineships helps you find people nearby who are actually ready to go out. One of the features we’ve been building around this is Dine Now . You can basically say when you’re available and what you’re up for — dinner, lunch, coffee, cocktails, etc. — and see other people looking to do the same. We’re focusing our initial growth in South Florida , particularly Miami/Fort Lauderdale, before expanding city by city. The interesting part for me has been realizing how many different people have the same problem for completely different reasons: people who just moved somewhere, people whose friends are busy, people trying to expand their social circle, and even business travelers who simply don’t want to eat dinner alone. The app is live on iOS and Android, and right now my biggest focus is figuring out how to turn a useful product into an active local community. I’d love feedback from other builders here — especially anyone who has tackled the cold-start problem with a location-based/social product. What would you focus on first to get the first few hundred genuinely active users in one city? submitted by /u/Travis_Dineships [link] [comments]
