Original Summary
A few friends and I kept having the same conversation. “I’m going to save this month.” Then something comes up, the money is sitting in the checking account, and before you know it the money you planned to save is gone. What stood out to us was that most savings apps still leave the entire process up to you. You move the money, you decide whether to touch it, and there really isn’t anybody holding you accountable. So we started wondering: What if saving money felt more like having a commitment with yourself or even with a group of friends instead of just moving money into another account? That idea eventually turned into something my friends and I have spent a long time building called LockN - Savings App . The basic idea is that you can create a savings goal, set rules around it, contribute toward it, or save together with other people working toward a shared goal. We finally have an early version out, and now we’re at the part that is probably more important than building it: finding out whether people actually want it. So instead of dropping a download link and asking everybody to install it, I’d genuinely like to know: What is the biggest thing that stops you from sticking to a savings goal? Is it unexpected expenses? Lack of discipline? Forgetting about the goal? Having easy access to the money? Or something completely different? I’m one of the founders, so obviously I’m close to the product. That’s exactly why I’d rather hear the criticism now than convince myself we solved a problem people don’t actually have. submitted by /u/Able-Pea-6771 [link] [comments]
