Original Summary
Might be a bit unusual, but the scripting language Papyrus(Skyrim, Fallout 4, Starfield) had me quite annoyed with the compile accepting almost anything. Spent hours bug hunting to find what amounted to a wrongly positioned argument before I took up the task of making it easier for everyone. Using Claude, Codex and Grok for some additional speed during development and checking on each other I got a base implementation up and running quickly. Some learnings from that: - AI loves to duplicate code a lot - Reviews are very much necessary to prevent unintended side effects - Speed with AI is initially higher but drops off over time due to growing technical debt - Proper AST creation is a nightmare to do - You need tests for anything slightly complex, otherwise it breaks None of those learnings are new to be honest, but some stuff sticks better when it is repeated or noticed on your own code. Next on my todo list is refactoring. A lot of duplicate and near duplicate code is still in I'm sure and the docs need another pass for sure to be fine.
