Original Summary

I built a free, offline photoshop alternative called Photon Studio , which started as an experiment. Then I posted about it here on reddit and it got a lot of traction, people there liked the project so much they literally asked me to add a donation option to the landing page. So I did! I mean currently the donations don't cover 1/10th of the token costs but it's amazing for me to see the massive adoption it gained. over 25k users now use it, and give me constant feedback on EVERY version that comes out. My goal here is to recreate the entire adobe creative cloud suite with tech stack and pricing model that makes sense in 2026 (that's why it is free, and stays free). I'm currently validating if it's possible to build a small business based on donations only, if not - this product still stays entirely free with no premium tiers, but maybe future products like lightroom/illustrator/aftereffects will have a lifetime license. still trying to figure out what makes most sense for my users.   submitted by   /u/AsejereDaDeje [link]   [comments]
