Original Summary

My immigrant parents don’t speak much English, and as they’ve gotten older, choosing from menus has only gotten harder. We often take a long time to decide and just end up at the same few restaurants. Looking at photos is much easier for them because they don’t need to know what a dish is called, just that “ it looks good ”. So I built the photo first group food discovery: https://crav.app/ Acquisition I’ve started with friends/coworkers and more passive online acquisition like Reddit posts. People visit CRAV, think it's interesting and click around a bit, then leave because they aren't currently deciding where to eat yet . Realization CRAV clearly has a timing problem in acquisition . Someone seeing CRAV on Reddit today might genuinely like it, but when they’re standing outside a pickleball court with 5 friends 3 weeks later wondering where to grab food, they probably won’t remember it exists. Which brings me to the part I’m much less comfortable with: Actually approaching strangers and talking to them. I’m realizing I need to go to pickleball courts, gyms, sports leagues, coworking groups, etc., and actually find groups deciding where to eat. I’ve always been much more comfortable building than selling, but I’m starting to think this is one of those things I just have to learn. For those of you who hated sales/outreach when you started your side project: how did you get comfortable actually going out and talking to potential users? submitted by /u/__yehey__ [link] [comments]
