Original Summary

Cutaway is a local tool and agent skill for turning a UI walkthrough into a polished MP4. With the skill installed, I can ask a coding agent to “record the checkout flow.” The agent writes a JSON plan, runs the interaction in Chromium through Playwright, and Cutaway renders the recording with auto-zoom, cursor movement, paced pauses and motion blur. The attached 25-second, 1080p/60fps clip is the finished output from a sample plan on a shadcn/ui dashboard. Cutaway also supports mobile flows and touch gestures. The capture and rendering pipeline runs locally with Playwright, Skia and FFmpeg. The coding agent uses its configured model to write the plan; Cutaway itself does not call an AI model. I started with Astra as the base and continued development with Opus 5.5. The repo includes the skill, CLI and examples. It requires Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg: GitHub: https://github.com/half144/cutaway Would this be useful for release demos or product documentation? What looks least convincing in the clip: the zoom, cursor movement or pacing? submitted by /u/SadWay9744 [link] [comments]
