I’ve been building something called R3TCON . It started because I kept running into the same problem with large fictional worlds: characters change, events affect later events, people move around, knowledge spreads, timelines get complicated, and eventually “I’ll remember that” stops working. So I built a local-first canon and continuity system for writers, worldbuilders, TTRPG creators and narrative game developers. The important bit: it isn’t generative AI, and it isn’t an LLM wrapper. The core system uses structured canon and deterministic checks. Characters, places, events, relationships, dates, state changes and knowledge are represented explicitly, and R3TCON reasons across them. So it can catch things like: a character appearing after they died a six-day journey happening in three days two events contradicting each other a character knowing something they haven’t learned yet a scene conflicting with established canon When it finds something, it doesn’t rewrite the story or decide what the “correct” version should be. It shows you what conflicts, why it conflicts, and leaves that decision to you. I’ve also tried hard not to make structured data entry miserable. Existing writing can be brought in and checked rather than expecting someone with years of notes to rebuild their entire world from scratch. The project is now far enough along that I’ve put it on Kickstarter. And this is where I’ve discovered that building the software and finding the audience are two completely different problems. I’m a software engineer. Marketing is considerably less comfortable territory. 😅 I’ve had some encouraging reactions from writers and worldbuilders when they actually see what it does, but getting it in front of enough of those people is proving to be the difficult part. So I’m genuinely interested in feedback from people here: Does this sound like a problem worth solving? And if you were trying to reach writers, worldbuilders, TTRPG creators and narrative developers with something this specific, where would you start?
