Original Summary

What if the internet couldn't see who was talking to whom? That question is what led me to POM, short for Pomegranate. POM is an experimental anonymous communication network where traffic is mixed between multiple relays before reaching its destination. The idea is simple. Even when the actual message is encrypted, someone watching the network can still learn things from timing, packet sizes, and traffic patterns. So I wanted to explore a different approach. Instead of trying to make the traffic simply harder to read, what if we could make it harder to understand in the first place? POM currently uses randomized delays, fixed size packets, multiple relay hops, cover traffic, and a hybrid ML KEM 768 and X25519 key exchange. I built the prototype in Rust and put the whole thing on GitHub: https://go.linkforge.site/pom-mixnet There is also a local three hop demo in the repo if anyone wants to see how it works. I'm still exploring the idea and I'm sure there are things I haven't considered. I'd be really interested to hear what you think about the idea, especially from people who have worked with Tor, mixnets, anonymous communication, or traffic analysis. If you see something that doesn't make sense, I'd rather hear it than have it go unnoticed. submitted by /u/LinkForgeHQ [link] [comments]
